State Senator Stephanie Kunze has paid tribute to the late Senator Kirk Schuring, reflecting on his influence and legacy. In a statement, Kunze described Schuring as one of her "dearest and most trusted mentors." She recalled their time working closely together when she was a freshman legislator in the House, with their offices situated next to each other.

Kunze expressed her honor in nominating Schuring for President Pro Tempore in the Senate. She characterized him as "a statesman indeed and a beloved friend whose expertise and experience will be sorely missed."

She extended her condolences to his family, saying, "He loved Ohio and his family. His wife, children, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege to know him are in my thoughts and prayers.”
