#FeatureFriday: Dr. Raven-Seymone Johnson, healthcare administration professional, specializing in operations and systemic management
As a first generation American with immigrant Jamaican parents, Dr. Johnson is deeply proud of her roots, sharing, “I am product of the hard work and sacrifice they made throughout my life.” As the oldest sibling to two, she cherished her role as a mentor and leader to her family. With her aspirations set high, Dr. Johnson knew she wanted to become a doctor, which prompted her healthcare journey at a young age; cultivating experience in various healthcare sectors ranging from physician engagement, consulting, care management, mental health crisis intervention, health disparities research, quality and risk management. All of these moments in her career brought her to her latest goal; understanding the operations and systemic management within a healthcare system.

Dr. Johnson’s educational achievements include a Sociology degree from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, along with a Master’s in Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis. Her education far expanded her knowledge within population health and value-based healthcare, in which she then turned to Franklin University to obtain her Doctorate of Healthcare Administration (DHA).

In the future, Dr. Johnson hopes to utilize all of her skill sets and knowledge to become a chief operating officer to improve healthcare workflows while increasing the intersectionality of preventative care, mental healthcare, and personalized medicine. Her compassion for others goes beyond the hospital setting, as a committed mentor in her spare time to LINK Unlimited Scholar, a program that aims to close the opportunity gap for black youth in Chicago. Her mentorship works to provide a high school scholar with resources and support as they advance towards college and the beginning stages of their career.
