Dr. Brooks is a student affairs practitioner with more than 20 years of experience spanning public, private, and two-year college institutions. Brooks currently serves as the senior director for student life at Columbus State Community College where he oversees operations involving student belonging, accountability, support, and threat assessment. In addition, Brooks is an equity champion with the Ohio Association of Community Colleges, an appointed member of the Franklin County Reentry Advisory Board, and co-regional director for the Columbus branch of Rescuing Leftover Cuisine, a non-profit focused on eliminating food waste and hunger. Beginning his academic career as a first-generation student, Brooks has achieved a Bachelor of Arts in English from The Ohio State University, a Master of Science in College Student Personnel at Western Illinois University, and a Doctorate in Education from Franklin University’s Organizational Leadership program.
