Hilliard Snow Warriors Prepare for Winter Weather | City of Hilliard

You may be in luck if you’re hoping for a white Christmas in Hilliard! Local weather forecasters are calling for snow, brutal cold, and high winds starting Thursday.

Whether Central Ohio gets hit with the storm or not, Hilliard’s snow warriors are prepared for the first snow event of the season.

City of Hilliard Operations Administrator Dave Judson says crews will begin salting roads on Thursday evening and continue working in 12-hour shifts until the storm ends.

“With the expected rain and 40-degree temperature drop, our main focus will be addressing the ice, but we’re ready for it all,” Judson said.

SNOW REMINDERS

  • Do not shovel or plow snow into City streets or driveway aprons
  • Do not shovel or plow snow around fire hydrants or mailboxes
  • Keep distance from the snowplows
  • Remove parked cars from the street
  • Do not attempt to pass a snowplow
Residents are asked to keep their sidewalks and driveway aprons free of snow and ice during winter weather.

WINTER WEATHER PRIORITY LIST

All City of Hilliard streets receive snow removal service according to the following priorities that have been established based on traffic volumes and speeds:

Priority 1Major arteries are salted and plowed first. These streets will continue to receive treatment as long as weather conditions continue.Priority 2Minor arterials include the Main connecting roads and roads through subdivisions. These streets will be plowed and salted once Priority 1 streets have received treatment.Priority 3Residential streets that generally go through residential neighborhoods will be serviced once Priority 1 and Priority 2 streets are cleared. These are generally not included in salt routes.Priority 4Cul-de-sacs, courts, and non-through streets and alleys paths will be cleared, if necessary. These are not included in salt routes.Priority 5City parking lots, sidewalks, curb ramps, and paths are the final areas to be cleared.

TRACK A PLOW

The public can now track City snowplows using SnowPaths.Use your phone or computer to see when Plow McPlowface is in your neighborhood. The system uses GIS technology to track each plow’s location and direction.
