Officer Izar Earns MADD Award for OVI Arrests | City of Hillard
A Hilliard police officer was recognized by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) for his outstanding efforts to remove impaired drivers from roadways.
Officer Quinn Izar received the Award of Excellence during the MADD Central Ohio Honoring Our Heroes Law Enforcement Recognition Luncheon on Dec. 8.
The event is designed to honor the most outstanding law enforcement officers, criminal justice professionals and citizens of central Ohio for their dedication in the fight against drunk and drugged driving.
Izar, who joined the City of Hilliard Division of Police in 2020, is a third-shift patrol officer. Since the beginning of 2022 he has made 33 OVI arrests, leading the agency.
He was nominated for the award by his supervisor, Sergeant Josh Cohill.
“Even though he has been an officer for only two years, Officer Izar has learned to identify an impaired driver just like a seasoned veteran,” said Sgt. Cohill. “He has shown dedication and commitment to removing impaired drivers from Ohio’s roadways, making everyone safer due to his actions.”
Hilliard Chief of Police Michael Woods said he is proud to have Officer Izar recognized for his efforts in keeping the Hilliard community safe.
“One death or injury caused by impaired driving is one too many. This is one crime that is 100 percent preventable,” said Chief Woods. “We encourage residents to make safe choices this holiday season by planning ahead when celebrations include alcohol.”
The mission of MADD is to end drunk driving, help fight drugged driving, support the victims of these violent crimes, and prevent underage drinking.
