Dr. Patrick Bennett | 2022 Outstanding Intrapreneur
Franklin University, one of the leading educators of working adults, is pleased to announce that Dr. Patrick Bennett, vice president, Academic Quality & Planning and dean of the School of Education, has been recognized as a 2022 Outstanding Intrapreneur Award recipient. The award, which will be formally announced at the Nov. 17, 2022, Global Intrapreneurs Summit and Awards Ceremony, is presented by the Global Intrapreneurs Institute. The Summit recognizes global intrapreneurs as problem-solvers and transformative change agents who think and act like entrepreneurs while working inside their organization or business.
As an education sector 2022 Outstanding Intrapreneur Award recipient, Dr. Patrick Bennett will be recognized for his leadership of efforts to create programs and pathways that enable community college transfer students and adult learners seeking to change careers to become licensed teachers in the State of Ohio. More than providing access and pathways, the initiative responds to an acute teacher shortage in Ohio and values inclusive excellence and new pathways to career opportunity by targeting underserved populations of learners and establishing a new learner-to-teacher talent ecosystem in the region.
“I am honored to accept the Outstanding Intrapreneur Award for the Education Sector. Thank you to the Global Intrapreneurs Institute for recognizing our work,” shared Dr. Bennett. “As a student-centered institution, we’ve worked extremely hard at Franklin to innovate within the School of Education as an intrapreneurial unit to create programs that increase access and improve student success.”
Through Dr. Bennett’s vision and leadership, Franklin launched its post-baccalaureate program and an entire undergraduate education program featuring several program areas, including Primary, Intervention Specialist, Middle Childhood Education, and Adolescent to Young Adult. Continued advancements in education offerings include the launch of the American Education Studies program and distinctive community college education program partnerships across the state of Ohio that foster collaboration among faculty and staff at the university and educators in schools and community colleges. Accentuating the effort, these programs have been awarded full accreditation by CAEP, demonstrating the quality of instruction and curriculum provided by the institution.
The launch of the new education programs provided significant enrollment growth for Franklin at a time when most private independent colleges and universities in Ohio experienced a decline in enrollment. This response demonstrates the need that exists for program and pathway options to obtain teacher licensures for those who already possess bachelor’s degrees in other fields or who work full-time.
