The sprint toward the 2022 Special Olympics of Ohio Summer Games has started, and Hilliard police officers are inviting the community to join the race.
The City of Hilliard Division of Police will host the Hilliard leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21.
The race will begin at Hilliard Municipal Building, 3800 Municipal Way, and end at the Safety Services Building, 5171 Northwest Parkway. The route will follow down Norwich Street to Main Street, then to Northwest Parkway. Community members are encouraged to line the streets to cheer on the runners.
A post-race cook-out for participants will be provided by Safelite Auto Glass.
“This is an incredible event we look forward to each year that allows us to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Ohio. It also provides the opportunity to spend time together as a community,” said Officer Brandon Long, who is currently the Torch Run’s state director.

The Summer Games will be held June 24-26 at Jesse Owens Stadium at The Ohio State University. Watch a video of the 2021 event here.
