Hilliard City Council seeks to fill a partial term on the city’s Shade Tree Commission. This partial term expires Dec. 31, 2024.
Candidates must be Hilliard or Franklin County residents and have experience or training in conservation topics such as landscape design, environmental engineering, recycling, solid waste, air and water quality, and environmental health.
This commission makes recommendations to the City about its tree planting program, including recommendations for the care, selection, preservation, trimming, planting, replanting, and the removal or disposition of trees and shrubs in public ways, streets, alleys, highways and other public places.
It reviews and makes recommendations on site plans and streetscape plans for developments and redevelopments within Hilliard, as requested by City staff or Council. It recommends and assists the City Arborist/Forester in the creation of a Master Street Tree Plan, specifying the types of trees to be planted on each of the streets or other public sites in the city.
The commission meets at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month at the
Operations Building, 3790 Municipal Way, Hilliard. Meetings may also be held virtually, as needed.
Applicants must submit a letter of interest and resume to the Clerk of Council by 5 p.m. May 13 at CouncilClerk1@Hilliardohio.gov.
