City of Hilliard issued the following announcement on March 16.
The City’s weekly chipper service will begin April 11 and continue through Oct. 14. Crews follow a schedule to ensure residents know what day their brush will be picked up. The city is divided into four color-coded quadrants: orange, green, blue, and purple. Crews will go through each quadrant one day per week (Monday through Thursday), weather permitting.
To use the chipper service, residents should place their tree limbs and shrub clippings at the curb by 7 a.m. on the scheduled day of service. Trimmings must be at least 4 feet long. Piles should not include vines, thorns, roots, grass of any kind, and foreign materials such as metal, lumber, nails, wire, string, rope, or staples. When a tree service or landscape company is hired to cut down trees or clear areas, they are solely responsible for that removal.
The weekly curbside chipper service schedule is as follows:
Monday – Orange
Tuesday – Green
Wednesday – Blue
Thursday – Purple

Brush collection services will also continue to be offered weekly through Local Waste Services every Tuesday. Clippings collected by Local Waste are considered “yard waste” and should be cut into lengths less than 4 feet, bagged or bundled using biodegradable string or twine (no metal wire), or placed into a standard trash container used exclusively for yard waste and labeled “yard waste only.” Bundles may not exceed 2 feet in diameter or 75 pounds.
