State Senator Stephanie Kunze (R-Dublin) has introduced Senate Bill 212, a measure aimed at safeguarding Ohio's children from exposure to online pornography. The bill seeks to restrict minors' access to pornographic websites by requiring age verification.

According to Senator Kunze, the legislation is crucial in protecting children from adult content online. She emphasized the importance of the General Assembly coming together to prioritize the health and safety of Ohio's youth. Kunze expressed her eagerness to collaborate with Senator DeMora and Lt. Senate Bill 212 proposes that businesses distributing pornographic material online must verify the age of individuals accessing their websites. Age verification will be conducted through an independent, third-party verification service. However, the bill also includes provisions to ensure that the third party does not retain personal information after granting or denying access.

Currently, eight other states, including Utah, Louisiana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Texas, Montana, Virginia, and North Carolina, have enacted similar measures to protect minors from online pornography.
